About the Hong Kong Foundation

The University of Toronto (Hong Kong) Foundation, thanks to generous donations from supporters, advances the interests of the University of Toronto and of Hong Kong by soliciting and administering donations for scholarships.

The University of Toronto (Hong Kong) Foundation Scholarships enable students from Hong Kong who are in financial need to attend U of T and receive a world-class education.

The U of T (Hong Kong) Foundation is calling on its dedicated community of friends and supporters to help ensure deserving Hong Kong students get a chance to attend U of T regardless of financial need. Since its launch in 1995, the Foundation has helped more than 80 brilliant students to receive a transformative education at U of T, one of the world’s top-ranked universities.

These talented scholars receive a world-class education that enables them to become leaders in their professions and their communities. Hong Kong scholars have pursued more than 40 different disciplines, with more than half of graduates going on to post-graduate study. Today, they live and work in 15 nations around the world.

25 years of success

About our scholarships

The University of Toronto (Hong Kong) Foundation Limited currently administers three scholarship programs:

University of Toronto (Hong Kong) Foundation Scholarship: The value of this scholarship is between CDN $30,000, renewable annually to complete an honours undergraduate degree in four years. One scholarship is available annually for an exceptionally talented Hong Kong student showing strong financial need.

William Doo Scholarships: Dr. Cheng Yu-tung and Mr. William Doo have generously endowed this scholarship program for outstanding Hong Kong students with strong financial need. The value of this award for the academic year is CDN $27,500, renewable annually to complete an honours undergraduate degree in four years in any discipline. Two scholarships are available annually.

Fung Yiu King Memorial Scholarship: Dr. Patrick Y.B. Fung and family kindly endowed this scholarship for talented Hong Kong students with strong financial need. The value of the award is CDN $16,500, renewable annually to complete an honours undergraduate degree. One scholarship is available annually.

Lo Family Scholarship: (Once every 4 years first offered in 2015)
This scholarship is for applicants to the University of Toronto. It was generously endowed by Dr. Kenneth Lo and family. The value of this award is C$10,000 (HK$65,000) for four years. The award offers additional finance support and offsets the higher tuition that students pay from their second year onwards.

Lucina Laam-Ho Scholarship: (one scholarship available)
One scholarship is offered each year to outstanding student to pursue a four-year of undergraduate study. Generously endowed by Ms. Daisy Ho and Mr. Lawrence Ho, this award is C$33,000 (HK$ 198,000) each year for student to study at any disciplines at the University of Toronto.

Our leadership

The Honourable Dame Dr. Rosanna Wong Yick-Ming, JP was the founding Chairman of the Foundation board. Our current Chair, Ms. Daisy Ho, is the Managing Director and Chief Finance Officer of Shun Tak Group Holdings. A sub-committee of the Foundation assists the University in selecting the scholarship recipients.
