ALUMNI NEWSLETTER
• SUMMER 2023
|
|
|
|
Dear ,
With the academic year ending and summer now officially underway, I wanted to reach out to share some recent news highlights with you and your fellow Temerty Medicine alumni.
I’d like to begin with a personal update. It was recently announced I will be stepping down as Temerty Medicine’s Dean and U of T’s Vice-Provost, Relations with Health Care Institutions at the end of August to serve as the University’s Vice-President and Provost starting in January 2024.
While it will be difficult to leave Temerty Medicine after so many wonderful years, I’m excited to contribute to the broader university community and continue to support the Faculty and its future successes in this new capacity.
A decanal search will launch this fall and, in the interim, the Faculty will be led by Temerty Medicine’s Vice Dean, Medical Education (and proud U of T alumna), Dr. Patricia Houston (MD ’78, PGME ’83).
Throughout my time as Dean, I have often been struck by the scale and diversity of our alumni community’s impact. Our collective dedication, expertise and unwavering commitment to advancing health and health care are truly inspiring and speak volumes about the strong educational foundation we each received here in Toronto.
As you read through the stories below, I hope you join me in taking pride in being a member of a vibrant, global network of more than 63,000 health care professionals, researchers and educators who are helping drive improved health for people and communities everywhere.
Best wishes to you and your loved ones for a happy and healthy summer.
Sincerely,
Trevor Young
Dean, Temerty Faculty of Medicine
Vice-Provost, Relations with Health Care Institutions
