Congratulations to the 2023 Alumni Award recipients!
The Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy Alumni Awards honour exceptional alumni who have demonstrated a significant commitment to our Faculty's community. Recognizing achievements in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, as well as corporate contributions, the awards program is an opportunity to celebrate some of our most outstanding alumni and partners.

New student award in pharmaceutical sciences
The Wayne & Huguette Burns Graduate Student Bursary
Huguette and Wayne Burns (BScPhm 6T8) created this endowed student award to support graduate students facing financial need.
Together they set up a foundation 12 years ago to support charities and programs in their local community, as well as the Faculty through their annual donations. Wayne credits the Faculty with having a major impact on his life, and aims to continue supporting pharmacy and pharmaceutical science students in need with their new student awards.

New Canada Research Chair in RNA Vaccines and Therapeutics
Assistant Professor Bowen Li has been awarded a new Canada Research Chair in RNA Vaccines and Therapeutics. Prof. Li is among 36 researchers from across U of T and its partner hospitals awarded new and renewed chairs.

2023 OPEN Summit
On October 11, the 2023 Ontario Pharmacy Evidence Network (OPEN) Summit invites researchers, educators, policy makers, healthcare professionals, knowledge users and trainees to learn about OPEN’s research and to engage in discussions about improving medication management and primary healthcare.

The biomanufacturing industry is expanding and evolving to strengthen Canada’s capacity to work at the front line of scientific discovery. There is a growing need to train and upskill the workforce to operate in specialized Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) facilities that are critical to bringing biomanufacturing products to patients.
Complete one micro-credential to receive a digital badge or complete all three micro-credentials to receive a certificate of completion in Upskilling in Biomanufacturing.
