Alumni connection at spring convocation

Alumni connection at spring convocation

When Joanna Bannon (PharmD 2T3) graduated from the University of Toronto with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in June, she brought a piece of family and pharmacy history with her.

In 1953, her family member, Russell F. Willis, graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the Ontario College of Pharmacy. On July 1 of that same year, the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto came into being and the University assumed responsibility for the school that had been operated by the Ontario College of Pharmacy (now Ontario College of Pharmacists) since 1882. Russell Willis went on to own and operate a pharmacy in Uxbridge, Ontario.

Seventy years later, the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto celebrated Joanna’s achievement and her family’s deep connections to the profession of pharmacy.
